      Did you know that…?

Fifty per cent of businesses employ less than ten people and have between less than three printers and are typically beyond the scope of most MPS programmes.

This market segment is the most profitable as they place small orders, and the majority buy OEM products during the first 2 years.

Once the guaranty of the printer has expired, the priority of these customers when buying cartridges is first the availability, and second the price.

      Did you know that…?

Costs related to printing represent between 1 and 3% of the annual income of a company.

According to IDC*, the costs related to printing are usually between 1 and 3% of the annual income of a company. Identifying the hidden costs of printing and hiring a professional managed print service provider can reduce printing costs by up to 30%.

      Did you know that…?

80% of printing costs are hidden costs.

In other words, the bulk of printing costs are due to inefficiencies related to the management of the printing resources and how one executes the printing of documents.

      • 75% of the cost of printing is related to consumables. This cost can be reduced by a minimum of 30% by the use of advanced monitoring management software that can identify where cartridges are lost, eliminate unnecessary stock and which also provides other powerful analytics.
      • 50% of printers and copiers are replaced following an age criterion instead of functionality. If you implement the second criterion, you can increase life of your equipment by 150%, reducing your costs by 15%.

      Did you know that…?

Consumables represent the bulk of the variable cost of a printed page while paper represents between 5% and 53% on a page in color.

However, it is still important to take measures to reduce paper consumption.

      These are some recommendations:

      •  Duplex printing
      •  Lower the quality of printing, and print in draft mode
      •  Use fonts, formats, and margins that utilize less paper
      •  Select the text to be printed, avoiding unnecessary texts, such as the feet of the    post office
      •  Reuse paper and use paper with a lower grammage
      •  Do not use thermal paper, since it does not allow its recycling
      •  Deposit paper that can not be reused in recycling bins

      Did you know that…?

There is a close relationship between the circular economy and the efficient management of the printer fleet

The circular economy is a methodology for optimizing resources through its better use and reuse. Applied to the world of printing, here are some tips:

      • Using an advanced management monitoring solution ensures that both cartridges and print volume resources are fully utilized.
      • Replace the printer or copier only when it is no longer capable of performing its task. 90% of devices in companies perform a workload less than 60% of their capacity.
      • Monitoring the printer’s parts real performance assures that the proper preventive maintenance is executed to maximize the parts life.

The smart phone has become the most direct and efficient access to small businesses.
The large majority of small businesses use their smart phone regularly to access private information such as their bank accounts:
      •  70% verify their bank accounts weekly using their cell.
      •  63% have at least one financial app.
      (source: www.bankrate.com)

The smart phone today is the “go to device” for customers to get instant answers to their questions for weather, news, product information, shipping info etc..

      Did you know that?

Two printing equipment of the same model, may be communicating different number of printed pages.

Depending on the manufacturer, the number of printed pages counters can vary significantly:
      • The pages counter is usually set by the equipment installer.
      • On many printers, the counters can be configured even by the printer’s own user.
      • The counters can be deleted, manually or in maintenance interventions and, if they are not restored immediately, information will be lost.

Consequences: Depending on the page counter you choose to invoice in “cost per copy” contracts, it may not reflect the actual cost per printed page.

      Did you know that…?

60% of printing equipment does not share enough information to be managed, correctly, by a monitoring tool

Only 40% of the models share, natively, enough information to be managed by the Automatic Replenishment of consumables model.

The other 60% of models usually present some of the following deficiencies:

      • They do not communicate levels of any consumable
      • Only communicate levels of some consumables
      • Communicate levels with jumps, not continuous from 100% to 0%
      • Those that communicate only “low level” or “change cartridge”, do it, in general, when the non visible level is between 25% and 35%, depending on the model in question.

The consequences of this lack of information for the user are, usually:

      • There is no need for a consumable alert and the equipment stops.
      • The consumable alert is generated when there is still a lot of consumable and is changed by wasting it.
      • Requires having spare cartridges and be aware of when you start printing poorly.

      Did you know that?

Automatic replenishment of consumables is now a reality

The arrival of the internet to the printers has allowed remote monitoring and  the monitoring provides data about the evolution of the different consumables.

Cartridge sellers are using this technology to automatically replenish the cartridges of ink, toner, drums and other consumables of the printers of their clients:
      • The customer receives the cartridge before it runs out and uses his mobile phone to determine when to install it without wasting any of it.
      • At the same time, he receives the invoice from his supplier for the cartridge sent.
Automatic supplies replenishment is having two important impacts:
      • It is replacing the traditional sale in which the seller had to wait for his client to ask for the cartridge.
      • It is facilitating that hundreds of small businesses are recovering their business selling cartridges, compared to large platforms such as Amazon.

      Did you know that…?

The cartridge duration that the manufacturer tells you often do not coincide with what your customers get.

On average, only 48% of the cartridges print what the manufacturer claims.

The difference between the actual durability obtained and that claimed is explained by the following:

      • The duration published by the manufacturer is obtained in a laboratory under a controlled environment.
      • These tests are performed under the standards of: ISO / IEC 19752: 2004, for monochrome laser. ISO 19798: 2006, for color laser and ISO 24711: 2006 for inkjet.
      • These standards factor in such things as environmental parameters (such as temperature and humidity) and usage parameters (such as coverage or number of copies sent each time to the printer).
