The video assistant referee (VAR) is the system used to assist the main referee in case of doubt in some transcendental play of the match (offside goal or not, possible sending-off, handball in the penalty area). Thanks to cameras placed on the field of play, a group of additional referees study the play with images captured from different angles.
When the images depend on the referee’s interpretation, we tremble: here again, the human factor plays a role and a similar play is not always assessed in the same way depending on the referee; intelligent boots are the footwear used by footballers to keep track of all their movements and performance. They have a sensor placed in the sole that allows to know the power of the shot and after the match, the sensors are connected to the computer to study the performance of each player, also allowing to obtain statistics of the team.
The smart ball allows the trajectory, speed and power of the ball to be analyzed, among other parameters. The installed sensor allows the recording of the shots to transmit them, although its main function is to determine whether the ball has crossed the lines of the field of play, as well as to know if it has been a goal or not by monitoring whether it has crossed the goal line. The referee, in turn, wears a watch that vibrates if it is a goal.
