Nicholas Negroponte is the founder and director of the MIT Media Lab (Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Design and New Media Lab), where he has been a professor since 1966, and is considered one of the fathers of the Digital Age. Some of his contributions are:
1. In the 1960s, Negroponte and his team installed a camera in a truck to draw maps based on images, an analogous technique used today by Google Maps.
2. In 1984, he anticipated that we would replace the mouse with our fingers.
3. In 1995 he anticipated that we would buy books and newspapers over the Internet, without the need for paper.
4. He also stated that thanks to the IoT (Internet of Things) in household appliances, these will recognize for whom they are cooking and will do it to your liking.
But the Professor does not limit himself to accurate predictions. In 2005, he presented his One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project to combat the digital gap and is actively involved in projects to put satellites into orbit to provide coverage to underprivileged areas, especially in Africa.
Finally, he also reflects on our near future, noting that technology and connectivity will enable a collective social intelligence capable of solving problems, from military intelligence to the most mundane.
The implementation of technological advances for printer fleet management in MPS has turned Nubeprint into a benchmark, from its first MPS solution in the Cloud in 2010 to, more recently, its first DCA integrated in an app for smartphones (IOS and Android), unique in the market. Its A.I. engine and Machine Learning (ML) developed specifically for MPS enable the optimisation of the printer management.
