Did you know …….?
Teleworking can be adapted to any situation even when you have plans for a vacation…
Swapping the office chair – or the kitchen chair – for a hammock is a tempting idea when many companies still maintain teleworking. This modality gives employees the opportunity to extend the vacation period, moving the office to the vacation place, even if only mentally, the time off.
This is what is known as workation, from the mixture of the words work and vacation. A trend that was already beginning to emerge before the pandemic, driven by profiles such as the so-called digital nomads, but which has gained strength with the generalization of remote work.
Several hotels have already adapted to this new modality of teleworking and there have been changes after the pandemic offering in the workation package an office chair, a desk of suitable height, large screens, room service for video conferencing etc. …
This new way of working has so convinced some that many have chosen to make it their way of life and have invested in something more permanent by purchasing a home.
Although these types of formulas were already being used in the past, the pandemic has intensified them. A significant percentage of workers have operated from home during this time, but the fact that it is done from a different location still makes companies uneasy. That’s why it’s important to find a good space. Homes are more complicated to adapt for telecommuting .
This has led to promoting flexible work, where companies must lose fear and break paradigms where it was thought as something that affected exclusively women and families.
Both parties must negotiate to reach an agreement that sets the parameters in which both feel comfortable, “without impeding, but promoting flexible work”,
“Especially if you want to hire young talent, who value their free time highly.”
For this system to work, you have to have a lot of self-control and proper time management. “It’s hard to be looking at the beach and think you still have four more hours of work to do. However, if you are a methodical person it is clear that you are going to work better from a bright space, a terrace or a pleasant environment than from an office.”
“Teleworking independently has its drawbacks because there are projects that require collaboration. We approach this as a team building exercise and to find solutions to problems.
“Distractions are everywhere, but creating these types of relationships greatly improves performance.”
